The day I ate steak fat for the first time in my life
I have what people politely call a โpicky palate.โ To be more honest, itโs just plain fussy. I rarely use sesame oil because it tastes too nutty. When I order bibimbap at restaurants, I always ask,
โPlease leave out the meat. Just one sunny-side-up egg on top, please.โ
I donโt like rich fish cuts like fatty yellowtail sashimi either. Iโd much rather have something clean, like red snapper, albacore, or shrimp. I joke about myself:
โI donโt just have a picky palate โ I have a mean one.โ
So the fact that I ate a chunk of steak fat today, cooked in the air fryer and glistening with oil… That was basically a coup dโรฉtat in the history of my eating habits.
๐ฝ Motherโs Day Madness
The restaurant was packed for Motherโs Day. Customers everywhere. Orders non-stop. I was running around all day. Then someone brought in cheese pizza from Costco. It looked greatโbut the real problem was… the steak.
๐ The One Bite That Changed Everything
I usually just peel off the fat and eat the lean parts. But today? That fat was glistening. Golden, crispy, and shiny. I donโt know why, but I gave in.
Just one bite. And that one biteโฆ flipped my whole world.
๐ฃ My Stomach Went to War
What followed was pure chaos. I didnโt even need the restroomโjust waves of pain, twisting, bubbling. My insides were under attack. And while serving customers, I whispered in my heart:
โHaru, help me…โ
๐ง Lessons Learned
Thankfully, I feel better now. But I learned a lesson I wonโt forget: Never trust a glistening piece of steak fat. It may look tempting, but for someone like me, it leads to a full-blown rebellion from the digestive system.
Dear air fryer, Itโs not your fault. You cooked beautifully. But I was unprepared for the consequences.
